Is the 70’s back?

We at KAGU feel that the 70’s is back with a modernized and new fashionable spin. We love the funky forms and textures of armchairs and couches coming back in full force with their striking shapes and textured fabrics.

We anticipate that within the next year, brown furniture and wood panelling will all make a comeback. We predict that within 2023, 70’s brown wood kitchens with a more textured finish and emphasis on the wood grain will be a popular trend, offset with striking marble worktops. Furthermore, we expect that bold marble will make its way into the rest of the home in the form of coffee and side tables, as seen in companies such as @sohohome.

Mixing vintage pieces with modern pieces is growing in popularity in 2023. People are increasingly aware of throwaway culture and are looking for one-of-a-kind statement pieces. Stores like @soapandsalvation have perfected this art.

Like the 70s, abstract and geometric artwork has been making a comeback in recent years as more and more people are drawn to its bold and striking lines. This revival is also reflected in the growing trend of incorporating abstract and geometric artwork into interior design as people look for ways to make their homes more visually interesting and @mccullyandcrane are, in my opinion, the very best at showcasing these pieces.

Earthy tones such as natural whites, clay browns, and greens/greys are becoming popular when it comes to colour.

KAGU Tips:

If you’re hesitant to take the plunge on a darker brown kitchen, consider using natural wood finishes like rough-sawn oak for your kitchen cupboards.

When looking for items to dress your house, keep in mind the 70’s feel but keep away from shiny and smooth finished items and look for more textured or matt finishes. This will give your home a more elegant feel about it.
